Advanced Power Designs VXI600 Software Drivers QUESTION -------- What software drivers are supported for the VXI600? ANSWER ------ Currently, APD provides the following drivers: * LabView. * LabWindows DOS. * LabWindows CVI. As of the last update of this database, the LabWindows drivers did not yet have the interactive screens completed. These are schedule to be done within a few months of this update. QUESTION -------- I'm having trouble issuing commands from the APD drivers. Are there any know bugs or patches available? ANSWER ------ The APD software drivers have been available from one to two years. There are no outstanding bugs that have been reported. If NO commands are being successfully issued to the VXI600, check for hardware configuration problems, which are defined in the VXI600 Knowledge Base. If some commands (such as setting certain voltage values) fail, you may be issuing the commands correctly, but to the wrong VXI600 power module. Check the VXI600 Users Guide Appendicies for example interactive dialogs with the VXI600. If you continue having trouble, contact APD's Technical Support Group for assistance. QUESTION -------- Can APD provide example program segments which show how to call the VXI600 drivers? ANSWER ------ By all means. The VXI600 device drivers conform to the National Instruments Device Driver Specification. As a result, the APD device drivers are called in the standard way as other drivers. APD can provide source code examples to show how the VXI600 drivers can be integrated into user applications. Also, for an example of a user application which communicates to the VXI600, you can download the VXIDEMO program from the APD web site, under the SUPPORT page. This demo does not require any hardware, but gives examples of a windowing environment which is used to communicate with the VXI600. Also note that at the time of this update to this Knowledge Base, the VXI600 CVI driver window screens were still in final development. The drivers themselves, however, have been available for over a year.
